Iran is famous for its four-season weather. It is considered as one of few countries in the world where visitors may experience all four seasons in a part of the country all year long.
You can find four seasons at the same time through out the year in every corner of the country. At the time that summer starts in the southern and northern parts of the country close to the bodies of water (Caspian Sea in the north and Persian Gulf in south), you will be able to travel to the west to ski in snowy mountainous regions.
If you are planning to go to the west of the country and also the mountainous area, make sure you have a cardigan or a light jacket with you. If you are going to higher elevations, make sure you are prepared for a very cold temperature. It can get chilly even in the middle of August!

Autumn is the best time to visit Hyrcanian forests of Alborz Mountains. Hyrcanian forests are old-growth surviving forests dating back to 25 to 50 million years ago. This beautiful treasary carries millions of different DNA and genes making this location a green biology library.There are more than eighty different plant species living in Iran’s Hyrcanian woods with some rare kinds such as Beech (Fagus), Alder, Elm, Prunus avium or wild cherry. Hyrcanian forests existed in Europe as well but did not survive the cold climate of the region and went extinct. Caspian shores are warm and humid helping these plantations to survive. These forests are the inhabitant of Persian ironwood known as Parrotia persica native to the north of Iran. The leaves of this deciduous tree are reddish-purple in spring, dark green in summer, and yellow orange in fall.

If you travel to Iran in winter, it is best to go to the warm regions of the south of Iran. The places like Khuzestan, Persian Gulf islands, and Sistan and Baluchestan province. Plus the only Iranian Island of the Caspian Sea that hosts migrant birds from Siberia, but this one is not warm.Winter is the only time you can go skiing on Alborz Mountains; also enjoy the sunny beaches of Persian Gulf on the same day. On winter you can see one of the most beautiful flowers in the world, the Behbahan Narcissus, in Khuzestan province of Iran.This beautiful flower that blossoms in winter grows naturally in the plains of Behbahan city in Khuzestan. Iran’s Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts, and Tourism Organization listed this flower as a national treasure of Iran. Behbahan Narcissus was known as the most beautiful flower Floriade exhibition in Netherlands.
